west side of the school property. This will allow
for future expansion for parking and a bike path.
This won't be developed at the present time as the
parking lot is alrisady oversized by 40 parking
sites, but this will allow for future parking
expansion when needed.
Mr. Wiesley thanked City staff for their time and
commitment to this project and asked for Council's
favorable consideration. If the Board of
Education decides t:o go for a bond issue later
this year, this package would be ready to bid as
one of the first ones on line and would have an
opening date of September 1990.
Mayor Fauson moved and Scarpella seconded to
authorize the Mayox• to execute a License Agreement
for the use of the Old Via Appia right-of-way by
Boulder Valley Schools. Motion unanimously
approved.
Sackett stated that if in fact the School District
does decide to have a bond election, the citizens
of Louisville should realize how important it is
to support the issue.
PRESENTATION - RECYCLING
PROPOSAL Stahl explained that Glen Huey, President of Town
and Country Disposal, Inc., contacted him
regarding the possibility of developing a "Recycle
Program" for the City of Louisville. Since July
there have been several meetings with the Chamber
of Commerce, Mr. Huey and Stahl.
Mr. Huey stated that the proposed Louisville
Recycle Program is .a public/private program with a
minimum of financial obligation from the public
sector. A collection area would be established
east of the R.V. sewage disposal adjacent to
Highway 42. The area owned by the City would be
fenced and buffered with landscaping by the City
crews. This would be the extent of the City's
financial commitmeni~.
The three collection containers would be provided
by Town and Country at their expense and would
provide for paper, glass, and aluminum and steel
cans to be deposited separately. Proceeds from
the salvaged materials would benefit local non-
profit Organization: that volunteer to help in the
area of maintaining and delivering the materials.
Several local agencies have been contacted by Mr.
Huey and have indicaited a desire to participate.
3
