your business is not necessary for you to land in
that area."
Mr. Sawyer stated ghat it is very common for
private individuals to land their planes at their
place of business in a rural area.
Mr. Sawyer stated that he feels there is an
impression that his attitude toward the City from
the very beginning was that of belligerence and
non-cooperation. He never intended that. Mr.
Sawyer stated that he checked with the FAA, the
Boulder County Sheriff's Department and with his
own insurance carrier. He stated that he received
no objections. Mr. Sawyer stated that an officer
told him if he landed his airplane there again,
his airplane would :be impounded. Mr. Sawyer asked
for the particular law he was breaking and he
would stop.
Mr. Sawyer stated, "I think we are going way
overboard on an activity that's convenient for me
that really does noit endanger anybody and that
nobody's complained about."
Anderson stated than his only concern is that this
is only the beginning of a larger problem and that
it should be dealt with immediately. "What we are
dealing with this evening is strictly an
opportunity for anyY~ody who wants to fly any type
of craft within the City limits, the opportunity
to get approval because it does not deny that
opportunity, so that: opportunity would exist for
you as well."
Mr. Sawyer asked if the restriction within the
proposed ordinance on taxiing was necessary.
Anderson stated he felt it was and that it is
prudent for the government of this community to
deal with the question, allow for a procedure that
can be reviewed and followed.
Mayor Fauson thanked. Mr. Sawyer for his remarks
and also informed him that although Mr. Sawyer
felt his problem was with City administration,
that in fact Mr. Stahl had informed him of the
situation where upon he expressed his concern to
have the matter addressed. Mayor Fauson felt the
prime motive is safety in drafting this Ordinance.
8
