the same time the ]Homart property is taken to
district court. Rautenstraus stated that he would
check into that possibility.
The tax implications in the case of the Homart
property is approximately $4,000 annually of which
the LFPD receives about 5$, according to Stahl.
Szymanski moved that City Council authorize staff
to petition to have the Homart property excluded
from the CherryvalES Fire Protection District and
placed in the Louisville Fire Protection District
and have staff review other annexed properties to
the City of Louisville and determine if they also
can be petitioned at the same time. Mohr
seconded. Unanimous.
ANNOUNCEMENT/ADVERTISEMENT OF VACANCIES ON F3OARD OF ADJUSTMENTS
AND APPEALS Wanush stated that the two Associate Members and
one full member of the Board of Adjustments and
Appeals expired at the end of 1986. The Board is
made up of five members and two associates who
each serve three year terms and are appointed by
City Council. In t:he past, the City has
advertised for residents interested in serving on
this Board.
Wanush stated that the function of the Board is
twofold: 1) if a resident feels that a decision
has been made in terms of the building code and
feel that it not correct or proper, they can
appeal the administrative decision to the Board to
determine if staff acted properly or improperly;
and 2) a resident could petition the Board to have
a variance to the :.oning ordinance.
Sackett asked if there were any requirements/-
qualifications for serving on the Board as it
serves a very important function.
Hundley stated that. the main criteria for this
type of position is; an interest and good common
sense. This is a citizens board and there is no
special background that would make someone
necessarily a better member.
Mayor Fauson moved that staff advertise the
positions currently open on the Board of
Adjustments and Appeals. Mohr seconded.
Unanimous.
OTHER: None.
PUBLIC COMMENTS None.
4
