superiors to help in other attempts for public <br />awareness, e.g. pamphlets, signage, etc. <br />Szymanski stated ghat as the Postal Service is <br />concerned with they safety of their carriers, the <br />City is committed to the safety and welfare of its <br />citizens. Therefore, an immediate solution must <br />be sought. <br />Mayor Fauson recommended that an inventory of each <br />clusterbox be conducted and determine as to which <br />boxes should be turned for promoting safety. <br />There may also be :recommendations to have some <br />clusterboxes relocated. Mayor Fauson stated that <br />since the Postal Service is willing to work with <br />the City on this issue, staff should proceed at <br />once to determine a solution by this means. <br />Anderson stated that he was not in favor of <br />spending a substantial amount of money at this <br />time for signage a.nd painting until staff has <br />begun to work out a joint resolution with the Post <br />Office. Anderson would also like to have citizen <br />participation in resolving the issue. <br />Sackett inquired as to a resolve for the elderly <br />or homebound. Chopyak replied stating that the <br />Postal Service is sympathetic to those situations <br />and considers each case on an individual basis. <br />Staff was directed to work with the Postal <br />Service, citizens, esp. Ron Buffo, to come to a <br />resolve as soon as possible. <br />Wanush will come back to Council after working <br />with the Postal Service for authorization should <br />there be any expenditures to the City. <br />ORDINANCE #881 - SALES TAX <br />FIRST READING Rautenstraus read by title only Ordinance #881, <br />"An Ordinance amending Chapter 3.20 of the <br />Louisville Municipal Code concerning applicability <br />of the Sales Tax." Permission is being sought to <br />place the ordinance out for publication and set a <br />public hearing for February 18, 1986. <br />Mayor Fauson moved that Ordinance #881 be put out <br />for publication and a Public Hearing be set for <br />February 18, 1986. Sackett seconded.
