Mohr moved that the Public Works Department be
authorized to obtain sealed construction bids for
the South Boulder Road project. Anderson
seconded. Unanimous.
AUTHORIZATION TO OBTAIN BIDS -
NORTH LOUISVILLE TRUNK SEWER
Phare stated that plans and specifications for
the North Louisville Trunk sewer have been
prepared by Rocky Mountain Consultants and
reviewed by Public Works staff. In order to
continue with the project on schedule, it is
necessary to obtain construction bids as soon as
possible.
Phare explained that the North Louisville area is
served by a lift station that is located on
Centennial Drive in an open space near the
railroad tracks. The lift station is
approximately 15 years old and is currently
operating in excess of its rated capacity. Staff
reviewed the situation and determined that with
the growth and the number of homes that are still
going to be built in the station's service area,
the cost of operating, the cost of upgrading and
the continuing ongoing 0 & M associated with
mechanical equipment such as this lift station, it
would be better to install a gravity sewer from
the lift station where the pipes in that area lead
to and connect it there taking it all the away to
the wastewater treatment plant. This would go
directly from the current lift station west to
Highway 42 following the Public Service power line
easement then down Highway 42 to Short Street.
The overall project cost is anticipated to be
approximately $380,000. The urgency is due to the
fact that should any equipment failure occur,
there would be potential problem.
Hundley added that there is developer contribution
(Columbine Homes) in the amount of $60,000 that
could be used to either upgrade the existing lift
station or to apply it toward the new trunk line
for a long-term solution. The funds are available
in the City's Sewer Enterprise Fund.
Mohr moved that the Public Works Department be
authorized to obtain sealed construction bids for
the North Louisville Trunk Sewer project.
