Phare explained the current contract the City has
with Public Service wherein there is a monthly fee
for each street light and Public Service is
responsible for all maintenance and replacement of
street lights. A different three year contract is
being offered to communities by Public Service
which saves, by Public Service's estimates,
approximately 26~. Repairs to damaged poles or
the replacement of poles would still be furnished
by Public Service, but the direct cost for this
would be billed to the City. Public Service would
still be responsible for the replacement of lamps,
photo cells, and the glass at no additional cost
to the City. Phare feels that the 26~ projected
cost savings (estimated at $40,000) is well worth
the risk -- that risk being a major storm that
could down several poles.
After Council discussion Mayor Fauson moved that
a contract with Public Service be approved to
change to Type II Lighting. Sackett seconded.
Unanimous.
SOUTH BOULDER ROAD LIGHT
INSTALLATION Phare explained to Council that the Public Works
Department took bids on the traffic signal project
on South Boulder Road approximately 6 weeks ago
and had some problems with the prices. The pro-
ject was rebid after some revisions and a bid
award will be made shortly by the State. The
installation should proceed as weather permits,
however, the signals are anticipated to be acti-
vated after the So. Boulder Road project is
completed this summer.
APPOINTMENT OF COMMUNITY SERVICES
DIRECTOR Hundley announced that a new Community Services
Director, Robert Krisko, has been appointed and
will be starting January 5th.
PUBLIC COMMENTS None.
COUNCIL COMMENTS AND
COMMITTEE REPORTS Mohr commended the residents of the City of
Louisville for "having the wisdom and the
participation in last Tuesday's election."
Mohr stated that Boulder County has several
vacancies for advisory boards available and
encouraged people in the City of Louisville to get
active on these boards so that we can be
represented in the County.
Anderson responded to a request by Ann Meredyth
concerning official endorsement from the
10
