City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />April 12, 2016 <br />Page 2of4 <br />Members thanked Jay for being their liaison. <br />Members stated their opinion that term limits are not necessary for their board. <br />Members asked the Council for advice on new projects and ways to improve. <br />Council members suggested some new ideas for projects such as green <br />educational projects, transportation advocacy, and volunteering. <br />Councilmembers thanked the board for their work and the Mayor handed out <br />Certificates of Appreciation for members whose two -year terms are ending this <br />year. <br />Parks & Public Landscaping Advisory Board Annual Report <br />Members of the board in attendance: <br />Shelly Alm Billy O'Donnell <br />Keaton Howe Ellen Toon <br />Mark Newland <br />Chair Ellen Toon gave the board's annual report. Toon noted the group is a new <br />board (they have only met 4 times) and they are still finding their direction. They <br />asked the Council what they want to see the board do in the future <br />Currently, they are thinking they would like to focus on park maintenance and <br />improvements, water use, lighting, and accessibility. They noted the restroom <br />facilities in the parks need some attention. <br />The board did not reach consensus on term limits but they are experiencing <br />some issues with absences. <br />Howe noted that the parks are highly used and need increased maintenance <br />given the wear and tear they experience. <br />Muckle noted the Council still wants the board to advise on trees even though <br />they are no longer a dedicated tree board. <br />Maloney noted the need for identifying future uses of the park spaces. Leh noted <br />the need for the Parks Board and Open Space Board to jointly discuss the <br />classification of Lake Park sometime this year. <br />Stolzmann stated her appreciation of the board looking at sustainability as it <br />relates to parks. <br />
