City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />April 12, 2016 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />Lipton noted he would like the board to look at the use of parks for large events <br />(neighbor concerns, wear and tear on the parks, etc.). <br />Toon noted the Friends of the Arboretum 501 c3 has some money and would like <br />some direction on how it can be spent in the Arboretum. <br />Toon thanked Dean Johnson for being their staff liaison and for the excellent <br />support he provides the board. <br />Golf Course Advisory Board Annual Report <br />Members of the board in attendance: <br />Ken Gambon <br />Perry Nelson <br />Lisa Norgard <br />Sandy Stewart <br />Michele Van Pelt <br />Gambon gave the annual report for the board. He stated the board is pleased <br />with the new golf staff, the pro shop, and the Sweet Spot Cafe. He noted moving <br />forward the board would like to see upgrades to the maintenance building, would <br />like the installation of an all- weather training facility to help generate year -round <br />revenue, and a bathroom on the back nine holes. <br />Lipton requested the board look at long -range planning for revenue generation. <br />Stewart noted the role of the board is really to work with staff and help advise in <br />areas they can be helpful to staff. <br />Maloney noted the need for good marketing for the course. Stolzmann noted the <br />need to monitor the course and pricing over the season as play increases when <br />the weather improves. <br />The group discussed the pros and cons of term limits. <br />Councilmembers thanks the board members for their service. <br />Open Space Advisory Board Annual Report <br />Members of the board in attendance: <br />Helen Moshak <br />Mike Schantz <br />Christopher Smith <br />Linda Smith <br />Moshak presented the board's annual report noting the board's major project and <br />focus has been wayfinding for the open spaces and trails. They also looked at <br />understanding other ways to increase acquisition options for open space, <br />participating in the City's budget process, volunteer programs, and educational <br />programs. They plan to continue prioritizing wayfinding, acquisition, regional <br />cooperation, and community engagement. <br />
