Commission's Acceptance of the Museum Business Plan:
The Commission accepted the Business Plan with the understanding
that its acceptance did not necessarily indicate approval of all of its
recommendations.
iii. Discussion of Business Plan recommendations to suggest for
incorporating into the Museum Interpretive Plan (Revised
Museum Interpretive Plan to be reviewed at the July 6, 2016
Commission meeting):
The Commission and Foundation did like the ideas of expanding
programming, community outreach and strengthen participation
with downtown Louisville events and festivals. Also, both the
Commission and Foundation were in support of the HPC tax renewal
to include Museum operations funding, preferably by going to
voters in 2018.
B. Review of upcoming dates important to the Commission and Museum
and scheduling of joint meeting with Historic Preservation Commission:
Bridget said that she has been talking with other City staff members about
scheduling a joint meeting with the Historical Preservation Commission in
August. The proposed date are the 3rd, 18th and 25th. This meeting will
inform the HPC on the Museum Master Plan and the possible operations
funding from the renewal for the Historic Preservation Tax. The
Commission members discussed the dates and stated that they would
prefer August 3rd or 18th
VIII. Planning with the Foundation for Labor Day Parade entry (Labor Day is Monday,
Sept. 5th):
A. Theme this year is "Honoring Our Heritage," which will tie in well with the
30th anniversary of the Museum this year:
Betty Scarpella volunteered to spearhead this effort and collaborate with
the History Foundation on the float. Betty is planning to work with Robbie
Ferguson to make a replica of the Jacoe store.
B.
