Historical Commission
Minutes
July 6, 2016
Page 4
4. Laurinda Sturr — property documents from the Henning/Lay family;
two cookbooks used by the Henning/Lay family; and other
documents and photos relating to Louisville.
5. Monarch High School — yearbook for 2015-2016.
6. David Ferguson & Robert Ferguson — DVD of a short film made by
Robert Ferguson about the role played by his grandfather, David
Ferguson, in a 1967 mountain rescue.
7. Carolyn Manzanares — two menus from Senor T's Restaurant, one
from circa 1972 and one from circa 1978; Rex Theatre flyer showing
the October 1949 movie schedule.
8. Robert Tovado — digital images of Tovado family photos, including
the wedding photo of the donor's grandparents, Frank and Helen
Tovado.
9. Ron Leggett — digital images of three photos showing the 900 block
of Lincoln Ave. in the 1940s.
10. Cathy Shelton — digital images of a World War I photo of Alfred
Garrett and the 1917 wedding photo of Alfred Garrett and Flora
Metz.
11. Jo Louise Michaels — items including two stereocards with photos
taken in Louisville in 1908 & 1909 by Boulder photographer Ed
Tangen; and tablecloth and runner with hemstitching by Josephine
Guenzi; Colorado retail sales token.
B. Advice sought on donations of other artifacts being offered:
- Bridget stated that a resident of another town contacted the Museum
regarding a vest, hard hat, and videotapes from Rocky Flats for a potential
donation. Although many Louisville residents did work at Rocky Flats, the
items do not have a direct connection to Louisville, and the Commission
decided not to seek the donation. Bridget will recommend other museums
that may be interested in the donation.
- Mary Guyer offered her stepfather Willie Byrd's funeral home business
sign from downtown Louisville in the 1980s. The Commission decided to
not seek the donation due to the size of the item and the limited storage
space available.
C.
