DISCUSSION/DIRECTION - INSTALLATION OF SCHOOL ZONE FLASHING BEACONS
- HOOVER AVENUE/SYCAMORE LANE INTERSECTION

Tom Phare, Public Works Director, had given Council a map showing the locations of where the
flashers should go, per their analysis and recommendation.

Davidson stated that school boundaries may be realigned in that area. He wanted further definition
of that realignment before approving the flashers.

Davidson moved that Council table this issue until the next Council meeting and asked staffto get
the information about the realignment of the school boundaries. Seconded by Howard.

Lathrop offered a friendly amendment that staff create some criteria that is formulated to dictate the
necessity for these types of installations.

Davidson asked that this be done at the next work session, before that Council meeting.

Lathrop agreed.

Levihn stated that he opposed yellow flashers anywhere there are stop signs, as it gives children a
false sense of security. He stated that there are nine students that cross at that corner and it is a
$5,000 light. At Hoover, south of West Street, there are 32 students that cross and that is blinded
by a fence. He has 58 students that cross Belle Vista and Hoover.

Mayer felt the excess speed of the cars in that area needed to be addressed and the lights would help.
He stated that, with the likely development of the trail connecting Louisville Elementary with the
Recreation Center and the Warembourg property, especially after school, they are going to see
increased crossing in this area, as well as the redevelopment of Sundance Park.

All in favor.

DISCUSSION/MOTION - REQUEST TO LIFT WEEKENDER SIGN RESTRICTIONS ON
OCTOBER 8 AND 9 AND OCTOBER 15 AND 16 AT THE REQUEST OF THE BOULDER
CHAPTER OF THE BOULDER HOMEBUILDER'S ASSOCIATION.

Paul Wood, Planning Director, stated that this is for the Tour of Homes on the above dates. The only
tour in Louisville would be in Coal Creek Ranch, Filing No. 3.

Davidson stated that in two of the last three years that the Homebuilders had requested this, they have
not complied with the agreement. He did not feel they would comply, as happened last year.

Don Meyers, Sales Manager at Coal Creek Ranch, stated that this brings in a number of visitors to
Louisville and is very positive for promoting Coal Creek Homes and the city.
