Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
September 19, 2016
tax that has been in place for 8 years. You have a historic and preservation fund which is used
for all sorts of things. You have a comprehensive preservation plan. I am here to see if one or
more of you would like to donate your time to answer some questions and offer advice
regarding what is in place in Louisville, how it is working, how it is not working, and obstacles
you faced in implementing the program.
Haley says it is great that your HPB is working on this because Lafayette has great historic
resources that are definitely endangered. We would be happy to be of assistance. Are we
interested in creating a subcommittee?
Stewart says I would be interested in talking to you. Chuck Thomas says I can provide
perspective from outside Louisville. Haley is interested.
White says this is my first foray into this and as a Board, this is our first move into affecting
meaningful change in Lafayette. We welcome advice from our sister city.
Haley says you can watch our meetings online which might be helpful in seeing the process.
Trice says I ask you only meet with two or less members at any given time.
Probable Cause Determination — 1029 LaFarge Avenue
A request to find probable cause for a landmark designation to allow for funding for a historic
structure assessment for 1029 LaFarge Avenue.
Conflict of Interest and Disclosure: None.
Staff Report of Facts and Issues:
Trice presents from Power Point.
LOCATION
The property is located on LaFarge Avenue on the west side of the 1000 block between
South Street and Short Street.
