ERIE <br />8-1-8: WATER TAPS: <br />A. Separate Tap Required: <br />1. For each water meter, a separate water tap must be purchased from the town and all required tap <br />fees paid to the town. (Ord. 10-2013, 3-12-2013) <br />2. No person(s) may enlarge or change the type of use for which water was originally taken and used <br />from the town water system without making application and receiving written consent from the town. <br />8-1-13: WATER METERS: <br />A. Metered Water Required: <br />1. Water meters shall be installed to meter all water use from the town's system as follows: <br />a. Every single-family detached residence mobile home and each commercial and industrial customer, <br />shall have a separate water meter. <br />b. All multi -family and single-family attached units with separate addresses, including, but not limited to, <br />condominium complexes, duplex residences and townhouses, may have either a master meter or <br />separate meters for each unit and for irrigation. However the town will not issue both a master meter <br />and separate meters for individual units or irrigation. <br />c. All multi -family units with the same address, including, but not limited to, apartment complexes, shall <br />have one master meter. <br />2. Any metering requirements not addressed above shall be determined by the director of public works. <br />8-1-14: SERVICE CONNECTIONS: <br />A. Installation By Owner: It is the property owner's responsibility to excavate, backfill, and install the <br />service line necessary to serve the property in accordance with the town's specifications and standards. <br />B. Maintenance By Owner: The owner of any property having an existing connection or making a new <br />connection to the town water system shall be responsible for the maintenance of the water service line <br />from the curb stop interior meter or meter pit into the property, and shall keep this line in good <br />condition at his expense. The owner shall, at the owner's expense, at all times keep pipes, fixtures, and <br />appliances on the water using property tight and in good working order so as to prevent waste of water. <br />Needed repairs will be completed within ten (10) days, or the town will complete the repairs and charge <br />the property owner for all incurred expenses. <br />C. Excavation And Backfilling: All excavation and backfilling shall be in conformity with town standards <br />and specifications. <br />D. Extension Of Service Line: <br />1. Each property shall be served by its own service line, and no connection with the water system shall <br />be made by extending the service line from one property to another property. <br />2. In cases where service lines have been so extended from one property to a different property, the <br />continued use shall be permitted only until such time that water mains are constructed in the street in <br />front of such property, at which time connection shall be made to the water main at the expense of the <br />property owner being so served by such an extension, and such an extended service will be <br />discontinued. <br />E. Separate Connections Required: No water pipes shall be permitted to connect between one water <br />using unit and another water using unit except pursuant to and in accordance with this chapter.
