Franklin:

I was wondering about the side going
toward the golf course.

The existing bike path has been
extended formally from at least Via
Appia south to Cherry Street. This
development proposes to extend it
from Cherry Street down to where the
Club Homes and the Meadow Ridge
apartment complex is located. With
the approval of those two other
projects, we not only acquired the
land, over and above what we needed
for open space, we also received
money for escrow to build the path
all the way to Dillon. If this
property comes in and if this path
link is developed, we already have
the funds in place to continue the
bypass all the way to Dillon Road.
That would basically complete that
major segment of the plan.

Mayer:

One concern I have is the use of the
detention ponds and the power lines
as open space. I feel the open
space dedication should not be a
part of the engineering detail.
Another concern is access to a
playground or park. One thing I
think has been deficient for a
number of years is the lack of
playgrounds for families and this is
an area that attracts large numbers
of families. While the proposed
development is close to Heritage
Park, I would prefer a park
playground that would be accessible
without crossing a major arterial or
within half a mile of each house.
Another concern would be the
transition between the commercial to
the west and the proposed
residential. My last concern would
be the disappointment among the
number of cyclists in town that the
bike lane on Cherry just dead-ends
right around that spot. Personally,
I would like it to be continued as
far as possible.

Sisk:

Is the Public Service property owned

10
