feel comfortable in agreeing to expend taxpayer funds. In the report from the County there is not the level of detail that I would like to see in it. Without denigrating the work that has been done, I feel those of us who are coming to this for the first time be given some time to evaluate what the proposed goals are. Will we be getting a return on our investment of maybe $50,000.00 each year? Should the City be in the business of funding, say, the Optimist Club coming here to put on a function the town might enjoy? I support Mr. Howard's suggestion of a six month review. Sisk: Howard: There are many intangible ways that this Chamber of Commerce represents this community that cannot be measured in dollars and cents. With all due respect, a six month performance is a six month stay of execution and I don't want to see a volunteer committee like this operating uhder that basis. I would appreciate us giving strong consideration to a year and develop the Economic Development Committee in a very sound and forthright way. If you are saying you're doing Economic Development, we have the responsibility to prove that we are getting back more than we are spending. If we get back the exactly the same, then the activity should not take place. We would get back less over an extended period of time. Though I applaud and agree, wholeheartedly, that the Chamber does a lot of good for the City, in terms of Economic Development, what I look for ls more than good intention, fun programs and fund raisers for the Chamber.
