Both of the officers commented that <br />they had never, ever, attended <br />anything with that many students <br />involved, without one single <br />incident. I am asking for approval <br />for the use of the Recreation Center <br />again and an earlier closing time <br />than you would normally close the <br />Recreation Center. The earlier <br />closing is needed, so we may begin <br />the decorating. Also, we would like <br />to have an open time for the <br />Councilmembers, Chamber of Commerce, <br />and the different people who donated <br />things, including money, to come <br />view what was happening before the <br />kids got to their after-prom party. <br />(A video was shown by Mr. Meier.) <br /> <br />Davidson asked for Council comments or questions. <br /> <br />Mayer: <br /> <br />I really appreciate the parents <br />taking an interest to put forward an <br />activity like this that doesn't end <br />up in a car wreck. Who is admitted <br />to this? <br /> <br />Meier: <br /> <br />The only people invited, by <br />invitation, are Juniors and Seniors <br />of Centaurus High School and they <br />are allowed to bring a date. Those <br />dates do not have to be from <br />Centaurus High School or the Junior, <br />Senior Class. We make a great <br />effort, a week before this event, to <br />have a present student population <br />list. They are in a file of <br />alphabetized cards and as each kid <br />comes in, their cards are pulled, <br />and thrown into a drawing bin for <br />door prizes. <br /> <br />Lathrop: <br /> <br />Being a parent of a participant last <br />year, it was a blast. The kids had <br />a great time and were totally <br />surprised by the degree of effort <br />and sophistication that went into <br />that night.
