PROPOSED CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE AND THE LOUISVILLE
CHAMBER OF COM~[ERCE

Sisk explained that the last item with which the Chamber is
uncomfortable is Item 2.3 on Page 2, which discusses the actual
costs of goods and other overhead costs. The Chamber felt that the
$20,000.00 figure, which was initially bandied about, was higher
than that which they would project. They would be more comfortable
using $17,000.00 to $18,000.00 for actual cost of goods with the
balance being for the administrative and other overhead expenses.
Both parties want to get this agreement done. Both parties want to
be accountable. Sisk suggested that Council put in, for actual
goods and services, overhead at $17,500.00 and for other expenses
to be $14,500.00.

Hornbostel:

Where are they going to come up with
the rest of the costs? The Economic
Development Committee added up
$20,500.00 as far as direct costs.

Sisk:

The cost from last year totaled
$15,400.00.

Davidson:

The $20,000.00 came from the
$15,500.00 for actual material. At
that time Council was discussing
making the limit of $5,000.00
contribution, which ended up being
$20,000.00, and that may be where we
came up with $20,000.00 and
$12,000.00.

Sisk:

Exactly.

Howard:

I take exception with Item 2, the
events. It was my impression that
this Council had stated that we
would not fund pure fund raisers or
items that were charity items.
Several of these items fall into
these categories. On Page 2, under
obligations and duties of the
Chamber of Commerce, Item 2, the
City of Louisville is under the
generally held accounting principles
for government, which is different
from the stated generally accepted
accounting principles. I want to be
sure that Council is following the
letter of the law, when it comes to
the pure accountability that we must
obtain.
