LOUISVILLE ENERGY ACTION PLAN
Where Are We Now?
Baseline Energy Analysis
An early step in the Partners in Energy planning process was to review current energy use in Louisville.
Energy statistics were calculated and presented by the Xcel Energy team from 2013 to 2015.11 Comparing
these data helped the planning group understand how and where energy is used in the City. While the
three years of data were used for trending purposes, the year 2015 was established as the baseline year
for this plan. Electricity and natural gas data provided by Xcel Energy show that Louisville has
approximately 7,935 residential, commercial, and industrial accounts that consumed approximately 205
million kWh of electricity and 8.78 million therms of natural gas in 2015. Figure 7 shows Louisville's
proportion of premises and total energy consumed by premise in 2015. It is important to note that the
number of identified premises is less than the total number of houses and businesses in Louisville; this is in
part due to multitenant buildings that may share a common meter among several or more units as well as
factors such as different borders being used for census boundaries and city boundaries for Xcel Energy
meters.
2015 Total Premise Count
(7,935 Premises)
• Residential Commercial and Industrial
1,000
t • 800
1-
3
m
2 • 400
600
200
0
2015 Total Energy Use
191
509
Residential Commercial/ Industrial
• Electricity Natural Gas
Figure 7.
