Approval of Agenda -
Helen announced that the interpretive education trail dedication sign review
discussion item had been removed from the agenda, as its plans had changed and it
was no longer relevant to the board. Linda moved to approve the agenda with the
aforementioned change. Graeme seconded. The motion was passed unanimously.
IV. Approval of Previous Meeting's Minutes -
Laura moved to approve the minutes as written. Linda seconded. The motion
was passed unanimously.
V. Staff Updates -
A. The CSU weed management research team has installed study plots at
Aquarius and Davidson Mesa and has applied the first round of herbicide treatment.
There will be temporary signs posted to explain to the public what's going on. The board
would like to have information on the project available for citizens to access on the City
webpage, too.
B. Ranger Kelsey and Ember met with the City prosecutor to discuss compliance
issues. They wanted the lawyer's opinion on whether the Parks & Recreation Director
could make changes to Open Space and Park rules, independent of the City code (and
other issues). The City prosecutor felt that the code indicated this can be done. The
motivation for this discussion has been that Joe may change the hours for the Davidson
Mesa Dog Off -leash Area. Neighbors have been complaining about noise on the Dog
Off -leash Area at very early/late hours. There are also differences between rules for
Parks and for Open Space specified in the code that staff would like to see aligned.
C. Staff has been continuing to work with a consultant to assign street
addresses to Open Space properties for ease of both dispatch and data collection.
D. Staff's edits and comments have been submitted for the Coal Creek Regional
Trail. This will lead to new brochures, an updated trail map, and a new kiosk sign
installed at Aquarius.
City of Louisville
Parks & Recreation Department 749 Main Street Louisville CO 80027
303.335.4735 (phone) 303.335.4738 (fax) www.louisvilleco.gov
3
