January 2017 Minutes Continued <br />Open Space Advisory Board January 2017 Resolution of Appreciation for Spencer Guthrie <br />Whereas, Spence Guthrie has served on the City of Louisville Open Space Advisory Board for <br />close to a decade. <br />Whereas, he began his official tenure in 2008 and served as a member and colleague <br />characterized by his local wisdom, perspicacity in divining and defining what lies at the heart of <br />the issues, straight talk, and advocacy for practical, realistic and tenaciously protected <br />conservation and preservation of our lands. <br />Whereas, Spencer's valuable political adeptness and advice, derived from his years of <br />experience with working with national, state, regional and local governments and <br />bureaucracies, his knowledge of our community and its history, his deep love and appreciation <br />for nature, his counsel and outside of the box, visionary thinking challenged us to develop and <br />pursue opportunities for expanding and enhancing our open space program throughout his <br />time with us. <br />Whereas, he and his family serve together in community volunteer events and he will always be <br />a respected and admired denizen of City of Louisville and champion for its Open Space and <br />citizens. <br />Whereas, he began the tradition of feeding the bodies, minds and souls of fellow OSAB <br />members with delicious snacks, bright insights, bold ideas and words of encouragement. <br />Now therefore, at the conclusion of his time with us, his fellow members of the Open Space <br />Advisory Board, the Director of Parks and Recreation and the Open Space Manager take this <br />opportunity to express our deepest appreciation and gratitude for his visionary ideas, sharp wit, <br />warm humor, worldly and well -traveled perspective, commitment to nature and his neighbors, <br />and valued friendship. <br />Let it be resolved that the members of the City of Louisville Open Space Advisory Board will <br />continue to be inspired by his visionary ideas and call to action to create a lasting legacy in the <br />form of a major acquisition to expand and ensure a healthy, sustainable, system of Open Space <br />properties that matches, in scale and diversity, the deep felt dedication, enjoyment, and <br />resources that our community invests in Open Space every day. We wish Spencer great <br />continued success in the future and welcome every opportunity to share in his advice, energy, <br />instincts and sustenance in our next endeavors to build Louisville and protect our Open Spaces <br />together. <br />9 <br />
