Library Board of Trustees
Minutes: March 20, 2008

8. New Business

A. Meeting Room Policy

Anne reported that some administrative procedures had been revised to mitigate
problems with use of the audiovisual equipment available in the meeting rooms. Some
new wording reflecting this change in procedure was presented to the Board and a brief
discussion followed.

After some minor revisions to the proposed wording, the Board unanimously agreed to
adopt the changes and reissue the policy.

New versions of the policy will be distributed to all public desks in the Library and posted
to the Library website.

B. City Council Study Session - April 8, 2008 @ 7:00 pm
1) Presentation of 2008 Strategic Plan by Library Board of Trustees

After City Manager Malcolm Fleming thoroughly reviewed the adopted plan, he
suggested some revisions.

Based on Malcolm's comments, Anne prepared revisions that were reviewed by
the Board. The Board unanimously agreed to accept the changes, with some
qualifications and rewording, and re-adopt the plan.

C. City Council Study Session - May 13, 2008 @ 7:00 pm

1) Discussion with City Council and the City Manager regarding the Board's short-
term and long-term plans, as well as annual goals and work plans

Anne explained that for the purpose of expanding citizen communication and
public involvement, City Council has a renewed focus to meet with all Boards
and Commissions on an annual basis.

It was not clear to the Board whether this session is for discussion or to present
documentation related to goals and work plans of the Board. Anne will follow-
up with Malcolm on this issue.

After discussion, all members agreed to reschedule the May 15 meeting to May
1 and for this meeting to serve as a planning session for the Board's meeting
with City Council on May 13.

9. Director's Report

A. Statistics

Anne noted that Library circulation transactions are up significantly over the same period
in 2007.
