N1104.3.3.2.2.1 During construction An Energy Rater must perform apre-drywall inspection to <br />ensure the ability of the home to achieve the required HERS Index rating. Prior to the scheduling of <br />the drywall inspection, the owner must submit verification of the Energy Rater's inspection to the <br />Building Division. <br />N1104.3.3.2.2.2 Upon completion of construction and prior to final building inspection approval <br />or approval of a Certificate of Occupancy (if applicable) and Energy Rater must perform a final <br />inspection to include a blower door test and duct blaster test (if applicable) and submit acceptable <br />documentation to the Building Division verifying that the residence meets the applicable HERS Index <br />rating. <br />Table 2 <br />Major Additions and Renovations <br />Square Footage Required HERS <br />Thresholds Index for new and <br />conditioned floor area existing portions of <br /> residences involving <br /> Major Additions or <br /> Renovations over 3000 <br /> square feet <br /> <br />3001 - 4000 40 <br />4001 - 5000 25 <br />5001 and larger Less than 10 <br />N1104.3.3.2.3 Moderate additions and renovations The requirements of this subsection apply to <br />additions and renovations of existing residences between 501 and 3,000 square feet of conditioned <br />floor area which result in a residence of 3,000 square feet or less of conditioned floor area. The <br />additions and renovations, and the entire existing residence must meet a HERS Index rating of 85. For <br />these additions and renovations the owner mu~ot obtain a Home Energy Audit which must be provided <br />with the building permit application along with an Energy Rater-approved description of the <br />improvements necessary to bring the residence; to a HERS Index rating of 85. <br />N1104.3.3.2.3.1 Upon completion of construction and prior to final inspection, an Energy Rater <br />must perform the necessary tests including a blower door test and duct blaster test (if applicable ), and <br />submit acceptable documentation to the Boulder County Building Division verifying that the residence <br />with the addition or renovation achieves a HERS Index rating of 85. <br />
