N1104.3.3.2.1 New dwellings, reconstructed dwellings, re-located dwellings The requirements of <br />this subsection apply to the conditioned floor area of new residences, the complete reconstruction of an <br />existing residence, reconstruction of existing residence above the first floor level, and re-located <br />residences. New residences, reconstructed residences, and re-located residences must meet the HERS <br />Index Rating shown on Table 1. A RESNET energy model prepared by an Energy Rater must be <br />provided with the building permit application showing compliance with the required HERS Index <br />rating. <br />N1104.3.3.2.1.1 During construction An Energy Rater must perform apre-drywall inspection to <br />ensure the ability of the home to achieve the required HERS Index rating. Prior to the scheduling of <br />the drywall inspection the owner must submit verification of the Energy Rater's inspection to the <br />Building Division. <br />N1104.3.3.2.1.2 Upon completion of construction and prior to final building inspection approval <br />or approval of a Certificate of Occupancy (if applicable) an Energy Rater must perform a final <br />inspection to include a blower door test and duct blaster test (if applicable) and submit acceptable <br />documentation to the Building Division verifying that the residence meets the applicable HERS Index <br />rating. <br />Table 1 <br />New residences, re-constructed residences, re-located residences <br />Square Footage <br />Thresholds <br />conditioned floor area Required HERS Index for new <br />residences, re-constructed <br />residences, re-located residences <br /> <br />Up to 1000 85 <br />1001 - 3000 60 <br />3001 - 4000 40 <br />4001 - 5000 25 <br />5001 and Larger Less than 10 <br />N1104.3.3.2.2 Major additions and renovations The requirements of this subsection apply to the <br />entire residence where additions to or renovations of existing residences exceed 3,000 square feet of <br />conditioned floor area and where additions to or renovations of existing residences less than 3000 <br />square feet of conditioned floor area result in a. total conditioned floor area of more than 3000 square <br />feet. Major additions and renovations must mf;et the HERS Index Rating shown on Table 2. A <br />RESNET energy model prepared by an Energy Rater must be provided with the building permit <br />application showing compliance with the required HERS Index rating. <br />4 <br />
