Roll call was taken. Motion passed by a 3-2 vote.

Mayer moved that Council appoint Chuck Sisk to meet with the
Chamber to see if some mutual accommodation on the "Austin House"
could be negotiated. Seconded by Hornbostel.

Davidson asked Carol Lathrop, on behalf of the Chamber, if she
would meet with Sisk on the issue.

Carol Lathrop agreed.

Ail in favor.

Sackett:

I have worked to try and bring the
Chamber and the City together. I
tried to help to get the bond issue
passed. The Chamber did not take an
official or unofficial stand against
the bond issue. Some people within
the Chamber had genuine opinions
that they felt that it would not be
in the City's best interest to do
that. I'm sure that the City needs
to expand. If we really think that
we'll build and we really want to
build, that's a totally different
story. I would support the City for
that. But, just to use the house,
you're talking two (2) or three (3)
people at most. Think about the
symbolism here. You should give
credit to many of the Chamber
members who have tried to give some
signals that we're trying to forge a
better relationship. Not always
look to one (1) or two (2) incidents
of people unofficially acting. So
far the Chamber, as an organization,
is trying to act in another way in
this regard.

Davidson:

As a point of clarification, I don't
think any member of the Council
intended to say that the Chamber

9
