What community will this project serve? * The City of Louisville is proposing to hire a sustainability consultant to implement the City's newly adopted Sustainability Action Plan and manage and coordinate all climate and energy, water, transportation, waste and local food and agriculture sustainability-related projects and programs. This project will serve the entire Louisville community. What are the goals of your community for this project?" The Sustainability Action Plan establishes the following goals for the City of Louisville: reduce energy consumption, increase use of clean energy and transition away from fossil fuels; provide ongoing leadership for water efficiency and water quality efforts to ensure sufficient, clean water for current and future generations; encourage more fuel -efficient transportation and infrastructure and support healthier and active lifestyles for the community through increased multimodal options; increase waste diversion, striving for a goal of zero -waste and manage material resources responsibly and effectively; and ensure sustainable, safe and healthy food supply that is accessible to all and supported by the community. In order to accomplish these goals, potential tasks for the sustainability consultant include: assisting with prioritization of Sustainability Action Plan goals; coordinating community education and outreach; developing partnerships; evaluating effectiveness of projects and programs; determining infrastructure needs; implementing Xcel's Partners in Energy program; providing support for long-range planning and policy development; incorporating sustainable practices in City operations; ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental regulations; identifying costs and benefits of initiatives; researching and applying for grants; recommending green products for use; applying for energy efficiency rebates; and answering questions from the community.
