LCitvof <br />Om Louisville <br />PARKS & RECREATION <br />Memorandum <br />To: Open Space Advisory Board <br />From: Kathy Martin, Superintendent of Recreation and Services <br />Date: April 12, 2017 <br />Re: RecreationiSenior Center and Memory Square Project <br />Summary: <br />The City of Louisville plans to renovate and expand the Louisville RecreationlSenior Center <br />and Memory Square Pool. Construction of the RecreationiSenior Center will begin in the Fall <br />of 2017 with estimated completion in late fall of 2018. Construction of the Memory Square <br />Pool project will begin after Labor Day 2017 and will be completed by Memorial Day 2018. <br />For this project the bathhouse will be torn down and rebuilt, the baby pool will be rebuilt, and <br />the deck will be enlarged to the east. <br />The PLAT/PUD application was submitted to the City in March and staff has the following <br />comments: <br />Recreationl Senior Center: <br />1. Staff recommends avoiding new landscaping on the northeast corner of the building <br />(or on the north end of the Power line trail) in anticipation of a proposed trail <br />realignment with the wayfmding project. <br />2. Staff recommends adding a curb cut to the parking lot for easy access to the trail and <br />striping of the parking lot for safety where the primary trail connects to the south side <br />of the Recreation Center parking lot. <br />Memory Square Pool: <br />No staff action is requested on Memory Square Pool at this time but comments are <br />welcome as the project team continues to work on the details of this project. <br />OSAB Action Requested: <br />Parks and Recreation Department staff are requesting review and comment by the Open Space <br />Advisory Board (OSAB). <br />OSAB concurs with staff recommendations on comment #1 Yes or No <br />OSAB concurs with staff recommendations on comment #2 Yes or No <br />OSAB volunteers the following comments, observations and concerns as the project moves <br />forward: <br />10 <br />
