City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />April 18, 2017 <br />Page 9 of 12 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 22, SERIES 2017 — A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE <br />CULTURAL ARTS MASTER PLAN <br />Cultural Arts and Special Events Coordinator Zoss stated the vision of the Cultural Arts <br />Master Plan: <br />The City of Louisville promotes the public and private advancement of the arts <br />and culture. We integrate the arts, culture and humanities with community <br />design, economic development, education and other development initiatives to <br />strengthen the quality of life and small town character of Louisville. <br />She stated this plan reiterates the City's commitment to cultural arts. Locally, artists are <br />asking for more support and residents are asking for increased programming and better <br />information. She noted that common topics that came up when getting public input were <br />facilities, public art, marketing, professional development, education and outreach, and <br />special events. Approving this plan helps to solidify the community's commitment to <br />addressing these items. <br />Councilmember Loo asked if any thoughts were given to the gazebo at the arboretum <br />being used as an outdoor venue. Ms. Zoss stated there were concems about noise from <br />the neighbors at that location. <br />Public Comments <br />Janet Russell, 916 Main Street, Creative Framing, stated her support for the Master <br />Plan. It is critical the community support art. <br />Nicole Charron, 657 West Pine Street, stated her support for the plan and the need for <br />more indoor event venues. We are losing events to other communities for lack of event <br />space. <br />Bill Carlson, 916 Main Street, noted the survey in the plan shows people support the <br />arts. <br />Mayor Muckle thanked everyone for being engaged with this process. He supports the <br />plan as presented. Councilmember Maloney agreed. <br />Councilmember Stolzmann moved to approve the resolution; Councilmember Loo <br />seconded the motion. All in favor.
