Louisville City Council Meeting January 6, 2004 Page 12 of 12 Assistant City Manager for Governmental Relations Heather Balser informed Council that Comcast has relocated their business office to the Centennial Pavilion. Deputy City Manager Julie Boyd recognized City Clerk Nancy Varra for being accepted into the Institute of International Municipal Clerks Master's Academy. She reported on the City's premium for Workers Compensation, which reflected a 20% credit due to the low record of injuries and the work performed by the City's Safety Committee. City Manager Bill Simmons reported on the discussions relative to the operation and safety of Via Appia. He has engaged the services of the Carter Burgess firm to make an analysis of Via Appia. Council will be provided with a summary and a preferred recommendation toward the latter part of March. He outlined the proposed plan: Signalization plan to review the intersections of Via Appia and Lafayette and Via Appia and Tyler; Develop a pedestrian plan to cross Via Appia; Review existing vertical and horizontal geometric between South Boulder Road and Lafayette Street and between the Recreation Center and Tyler Avenue. COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS Mayor Davidson noted another elected official, City Clerk Nancy Varra, is completing her term. The Mayor and Council thanked Varra for her service. Mayor Pro Tem Sisk reported the Council will interview applicants for vacancies on various City board's and commission's on Saturday, January 10, 2004. He reported over 62 applications were received. Mayor Davidson reported on correspondence received from citizen who had filed a complaint against a police officer. He stated he read the police report and believes the police officer acted accordingly. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Mayor Davidson moved for adjournment (9:40 p.m.), seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Sisk.
