Louisville City Council Meeting <br />January 6, 2004 <br />Page 12 of 12 <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager for Governmental Relations Heather Balser informed Council <br />that Comcast has relocated their business office to the Centennial Pavilion. <br /> <br />Deputy City Manager Julie Boyd recognized City Clerk Nancy Varra for being accepted <br />into the Institute of International Municipal Clerks Master's Academy. She reported on <br />the City's premium for Workers Compensation, which reflected a 20% credit due to the <br />low record of injuries and the work performed by the City's Safety Committee. <br /> <br />City Manager Bill Simmons reported on the discussions relative to the operation and <br />safety of Via Appia. He has engaged the services of the Carter Burgess firm to make an <br />analysis of Via Appia. Council will be provided with a summary and a preferred <br />recommendation toward the latter part of March. He outlined the proposed plan: <br />Signalization plan to review the intersections of Via Appia and Lafayette and Via Appia <br />and Tyler; Develop a pedestrian plan to cross Via Appia; Review existing vertical and <br />horizontal geometric between South Boulder Road and Lafayette Street and between the <br />Recreation Center and Tyler Avenue. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Mayor Davidson noted another elected official, City Clerk Nancy Varra, is completing <br />her term. The Mayor and Council thanked Varra for her service. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Sisk reported the Council will interview applicants for vacancies on <br />various City board's and commission's on Saturday, January 10, 2004. He reported over <br />62 applications were received. <br /> <br />Mayor Davidson reported on correspondence received from citizen who had filed a <br />complaint against a police officer. He stated he read the police report and believes the <br />police officer acted accordingly. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />MOTION: Mayor Davidson moved for adjournment (9:40 p.m.), seconded by Mayor <br />Pro Tem Sisk.
