Revitalization Commission
Minutes
May 8, 2017
Randy Caranci has offered 80 parking spots at the Mill Site. That would be a possible
solution the consults would look at. Council will review scope.
Funding is in current budget, it will be carry forward to 2018.
If members have more comments on RFP, forward them to DeJong.
City Request to buy into Storm Detention Pond
Staff engineer Joliette Woodson is beginning work with consultant on Hwy 42
improvements near Short Street. The project will need to achieve stormwater detention.
The DELO detention pond is sized to accommodate developments within the Core
Project Area. Commissioner Menaker said if the City uses some capacity then some
redevelopment down the road will have to provide their own detention. LRC did this
detention pond purposefully for capacity for redevelopment. Menaker is against allowing
City to buy in.
Alternatives for Public Works will be for drainage along ball fields or expansion of current
detention pond is possible. Modifications in a section of Hwy 42 caused a need for
detention.
LRC asked for more information.
With existing capacity, the answer is no, the LRC does not want the City to buy in.
608 Main Street PUD Referral
DeJong defined the property. This is part of a land exchange agreement the Council
approved in January 2017. This project would add three retail store fronts and a new
space for Voltage. Blue Parrot parking could be expanded to approximately 38 spaces
from 25 spaces.
The PUD goes to Planning Commission on Thursday, May 11th
Design guidelines don't dictate style of building. This building meets guidelines.
No changes are suggested from the LRC.
City Attorney Light said on page 23 of the packet 3' roof overhang should be looked at.
DeJong said it can be incorporated into the revocable license. Commissioner Lathrop
said that is a Planning Commission question.
There have been no requests for LRC assistance. Minimal public works improvements.
Items for Next Meeting June 12, 2017
Discussion of DELO Lofts Request
South Street Gateway Plaque
Hwy 42 update including detention pond
