Cultural Council
Meeting Minutes
May 18, 2017
posters are almost ready, and the online and print ads will start running
June 12. Adam will try to facilitate radio ads. As regards Facebook, the
returns were not as good as expected. According to Adam's notes, he
believes we should "boost" Facebook coverage for the concert series.
Adam suggested a $20 per concert boost and a one-time $40 payment for
$140 total. Sean moved for the $150 for Facebook and Blake seconded.
All were in favor of the motion. Finally, it was agreed that the Council
should not open up tents/space to commercial businesses (like a
professional masseur) or non -profits for this year.
• Fall Programming — The only agenda item discussed was that the Council
needs a lead person on the Sara Coit (singer) event.
• Release dates -- The Council agreed to release 9/15, 9/22, 9/29, 10/13,
11/10, 11/17, 11/22, and 12/06. Tammy made the motion and it was
unanimously adopted.
Ticketing Discussion and Proposals — Action: everyone should read the notes
and suggestions as provided in the handout and be prepared to discuss next
time.
Staff Update — Katie provided a summary: 1) the city council did not ultimately
decide on a noise ordinance; 2) Gina volunteered to meet monthly as a liaison
with the Historical Commission regarding the new proposed history museum.
Katie briefed the Council on this. There will be a public meeting held on June 14
at 6:00 pm at City Hall about this.
Chair's Report (Jennifer) — 1) Angie, Jennifer, and Katie briefed the Council on
CO Creative Industries & SCFD grants to consider. Angie will take the lead on
this; 2) 501(c)(3) process: Jennifer thinks it would be best to form a sub-
committee and she and Angie will follow up and report back; 3) Mary Lynn
Gillaspie is interested in joining the Council, but it would have to be clear that this
does not also mean that she is favored to be hired for events. Blake will contact
her. Katie, meanwhile, also has a neighbor who might be interested; 4) Volunteer
appreciation: it was decided to postpone this discussion until the Council gets an
additional member.
Discussion Items for Next Meeting — June 15, 2017 -
-- For review --
