Planning Commission <br />Staff Report <br />June 8, 2017 <br />Parking <br />There is no increase in the overall square footage of the pool deck or pool house. <br />Therefore, there is no additional parking requirement with the proposed plan. <br />ADA Accessibility and Landscaping <br />Based on the Americans with Disabilities Act Title II Facility Survey and Transition Plan <br />for the City of Louisville Parks and Recreation, the applicant proposes site improvements <br />to bring the ADA accessibility into compliance. The proposal brings the ADA accessibility <br />for both the pool house and the Center for the Arts into compliance. The site plan also <br />includes landscape improvements around the entries for both buildings and <br />improvements to the garden to the west of the Center for the Arts. <br />Architecture <br />The proposal includes detaching the existing pool house, restoring the north wall of the <br />historic Center for the Arts building, and constructing a new detached pool house. The <br />proposed pool house would replace the existing pool house constructed in 1972. The <br />proposed pool house is separated by a 8'8" breezeway from the Center for the Arts. <br />Proposed Memory Square Pool House/Center for the Arts <br />The existing pool house is 3,000 SF and the proposed pool house is 2,800 SF (2,250 SF <br />enclosed area, 600 SF open lounge area). The proposed one-story pool house has low- <br />pitched sloped roof set back from the north wall of the Center for the Arts. The new <br />construction is lighter in feeling and streamlined compared to the ornate brick structure <br />with decorative elements. <br />The low-pitched roof does not meet the Old Town Overlay requirements for a minimum <br />6:12 roof pitch.
