SINKCOMBSDETHLEFS
ARCHITECTURE DESIGN
Memory Square Improvements
In addition to the Planned Unit Development (PUD) submittal, a Special Review Use (SRU)
submittal is also required because the building is a municipal facility. Likewise, an Alteration
Certificate Submittal is required since the building is located on a Historic Landmark location -
the Memory Square Site and adjacent Center for the Arts building.
Project Description
The project includes demolition of the existing 3,000 SF Memory Square Poolhouse, that is
currently connected to the existing Arts Center building. A new 2,800 SF Poolhouse (2,250 SF
enclosed area/600 SF open lounge area), will be constructed and will not be connected to the
Arts Building. Rehabilitation and remediation will occur on the north exterior facade of the Arts
Center building to restore elements that were affected by the connection of the old Poolhouse.
No interior restoration is included.
The existing non-compliant ADA ramp to the Poolhouse will be replaced with a compliant
design. Also, this ramp will connect to the Arts Center entryway sidewalk so it will also have an
ADA -compliant means of access. Additionally, associated site improvements include a deck
expansion with outdoor cabana and storage structures, and a splash pad aquatic amenity. The
site is part of the Memory Square Park and located at 801 Grant Avenue in old town Louisville,
Colorado.
The Poolhouse includes:
• Locker Rooms
• Check -In Area
• Lifeguards Office
• Lounge Area
• Pool Mechanical
• Pool Storage
Operational/Programming Information
Outdoor Gathering Spaces
Operating hours for public swim at Memory Square are currently 10am-7pm Monday -Sunday.
Private swim teams rent the facility beginning as early at 5am Monday -Saturday. In addition, a
private swim team would utilize the outdoor gathering spaces for swim meets up to 6 times a
season. Normal season dates for public use are Memorial Day -Labor Day. Rental of the facility
could span the months of April -October. This space could also be rented to the public for
parties or for special events programmed by the City of Louisville. Amplified sound would be
limited to normal operating hours and would be limited to 9 days per year, not including swim
meets that will use a sound system to announce at swim meets.
61F j
