City Manager <br />Malcolm Fleming talked about open government and transparency. <br />Commissioner Oberholzer suggested developing a mission statement. <br />DeJong asked everyone to read by-laws. He will bring back on the next agenda for <br />approval. <br />DISCUSS COMMITTEE MEMBERS TOPICS OF INTEREST <br />DeJong asked the group what discussion topics they want to address for future <br />meetings. The Committee brainstormed the following topics: <br />Continue retention visits <br />Review marketing brochures, promoting businesses that are already here. <br />Review BAP program and compare to what other municipalities are doing. <br />Inspect projects that decided not to locate in Louisville and learn from them. <br />Research "shop local" campaigns, marketing. <br />Investigate the costs of doing business in Louisville compared to other cities <br />o Impact Fees, utility fees, utility rates, etc. <br />Discuss downtown parking challenges <br />Discuss Downtown Retail challenges — how could the city foster/promote/retain a <br />vibrant retail environment <br />Discuss an economic gardening strategy to economic development <br />How can the BRaD committee be involved earlier in policy discussions <br />Industry sector diversification <br />Discuss transportation infrastructure; last -mile connectivity and challenges <br />ICSC RETAIL CONFERENCE REVIEW <br />DeJong, Mayor Muckle and Deputy City Manager Heather Balser attended ICSC.
