Ember attended a Livestock for Landscape meeting. She learned about
trained cows that eat specific weed species. Mixed results regarding
replanting. This may be a skill passed on to offspring.
6. Harney Lastoka will have two mines capped in September. This poses
no safety issues, but she wanted the public to be aware of continuing
work in the area.
7. Davidson Mesa Dog Off Leash area flyers were gone quickly. They seem committed to railroad
underpass.
Takoda Greenway Berm Concepts
Justin McClure of RMCS is working on 4 to 1 through 2 to 1 slopes through the
berm area. It is thought there will be 8-12 trains a day and could be up to 80 with
Fastrax and they want to mitigate the noise as much as possible. They are
looking at capstone and brim rock materials. The trail will meander through the
berm. Rim wall might be used, but intermittently. Justin questions how to mow if
the slope is too steep. Ideally, they would like to mow only a swath along the
side of trail and leave the rest.
Axel Bishop has created the berm designs. He thinks mowing causes secession
He suggests to create the best native stands of vegetations is to plant on thick
topsoil and irrigate and do not mow. He would like to use rimrock in various
sizes with rock walls are suggested. Some discussion regarding the fire
department's policy of mowing ten feet along solid fence fencelines. This
development will probably have open fencing. Truman noted concerns that
these berms are very high and could cause steep trails. Also, that these berms
narrow the natural corridor wondered if views would be maintained. Axel said
they would aim for 1 to 20 slopes maximum to keep with other roads in town.
Tom acknowledges that this is a very dynamic area unlike the usual open space
and feels that this berm takes into consideration all the different uses of the area.
It was stated this is about 3000 feet. OSAB should make suggestions to staff
