Historical Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 27, 2008 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />2. The fence is being made; first 1/2 has been paid; another gate has been <br />added to the plan for purposes of maintenance access from the parking <br />lot to the Museum campus. <br />3. Painting bids are being solicited; painting is to be completed in 2009 <br />4. Landscaping plaques are being ordered. <br />5. The Museum/Jacoe Store steps are still under study <br />6.Two benches for the gardens have been donated; the Commission will <br />study moving the cement bench from the Rose Garden to make it more <br />visible <br />7. New tarps are needed for the machinery and safes. Donna Hauswald will <br />purchase tarps. <br />B. Community Education <br />1. The Community Education Committee will meet on Saturday September <br />20th from 10-12 in the Library Board Room. <br />2. There will be a presentation on doing oral history by Susan Becker of the <br />Carnegie Library's oral history program on November 4th at 7:30 at <br />Mountain View Church in Boulder. Interviewers for Louisville's oral history <br />program are encouraged to attend. The program is being sponsored by <br />the Boulder Genealogical Society. <br />3. It was suggested that in addition to soliciting historical items from the <br />past, the Museum should also save certain present-day items for the <br />future. <br />C. Events and Fund-raising <br />1. La Festa: The booth went well. The Commission will decide at a later time <br />whether to have a booth for La Festa next year. <br />2. Silent Auction Update: Plans for the upcoming Silent Auction and its <br />staffing were discussed. <br />3. December 6th Holiday Home Tour: All five homes have been confirmed. <br />4. There was discussion on how homebuilders and other businesses and <br />groups might be utilized to help with the Museum and the Commission for <br />the Home Tour. <br />D. Membership - 80 new paid memberships have been received since January <br />E. Volunteers: No new information <br />X. Chairperson's Report -Commission Members were reminded to update <br />volunteer time sheets <br />XI. Commission Comments -The Mine Marker Committee will meet on September <br />4th, 6:30 PM in the Library Board Room <br />XII. The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 PM. <br />
