Historical Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />September 17, 2008 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />1. Shirley Helart: Demorest's Monthly Magazine, 1871 <br />2. Louisville Middle School and Adam Fels: artifacts from the school, <br />including six hanging lights and a decorative ceiling the from the <br />auditorium <br />3. Additional donations being prepared for acceptance at upcoming <br />meetings were also discussed. <br />B. Correspondence <br />1. Colorado History Now publication <br />2. Johnstown Historical Society publication <br />3. Thank you letters from students at the St. Louis School for their tour <br />C. Visitor's Report and Tours <br />1. Visitor Report: <br />July YTD 875 (this is a correction from the information given at the August <br />meeting) <br />August 94 <br />Year To Date 969 <br />3. There have been tours of the Museum by three classes from Coal Creek <br />Elementary and a class from the St. Louis School. <br />4. Bridget Bacon will be conducting training for new volunteers and tour <br />guides <br />D. Activity Report <br />1. Bridget Bacon has been elected president of ANFRM (Association of <br />Northern Front Range Museums) for a two year term. <br />2. The most recent ANFRM program was on the topic of creating exhibits <br />that connect with visitors <br />3. Commission members and other volunteers have been incurring costs of <br />mileage when driving significant distances on behalf of the Museum and <br />the Commission. The Commission approved reimbursing volunteers, <br />including Commission members, for mileage when traveling on <br />Commission or Museum business. The City's mileage reimbursement <br />form will be adapted for use by the Commission. <br />4. The physical address of the Museum is sometimes used by the public <br />instead of the City Hall address for mailing items, leading to items being <br />returned. The Post Office has now approved the Museum building as an <br />official mailing address and a post office box is being put up at the front of <br />the Museum, although the City Hall address will remain the primary <br />mailing address. <br />5. Balfour has requested extra Louisville Historians to send to people <br />considering moving to Louisville and Balfour. <br />IX. Committee Reports <br />A. Facility Management <br />1. Museum Campus Project Summary for 2008-2009 <br />a. Maintenance improvements will be started within the next month <br />b. Fencing is in progress and will installed within a few weeks <br />c. A possible donor for a second bench has been located <br />d. Plaques are ready to be installed <br />e. All options for steps are being re-evaluated <br />f. Signage may not be funded in the 2009 budget. The Commission and <br />City might consider asking a corporate sponsor. <br />
