Historical Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />September 17, 2008 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />2. The banner for the Holiday Home Tour will need a sign permit. Muth will <br />secure the permit for it to be placed on the Museum 30 days prior to the <br />Home Tour <br />3. The possibility of using ropes during tours to occasionally block entrance <br />to rooms at the Museum will be evaluated by the Museum Coordinator at <br />a later date <br />4. The City may be able to purchase a rolling cart for transporting heavy or <br />bulky items such as Museum artifacts, tarps for outdoor artifacts, and <br />sales merchandise. <br />B. Community Education <br />1. The Community Education Committee will meet on Saturday, September <br />20th from 10-12 in the Library Conference Room to discuss the oral <br />history project <br />2. Requests for a new camera for filming interviews will be presented at the <br />October meeting <br />C. Events and Fund-raising <br />1. Silent Auction Results <br />a. This fundraising event was very successful, having brought in <br />$5,347.30 to date <br />b. Thank-you letters to donors of items will be mailed out this week. <br />c. Donna Hauswald will write an article for the next Louisville Historian to <br />report on the Silent Auction <br />2. Holiday Home Tour <br />a. Five homes have been confirmed <br />b. Crafters for the boutique should contact Sally Burlingame <br />c. Christmas ornaments made by Marion Junior will be completed and <br />ready <br />3. The Commission approved the purchase (for resale) of up to $1000 for 50 <br />additional copies of Italy in Colorado from the Colorado History Museum <br />D. Membership <br />1. Dan Mellish will work on membership renewals <br />2. There are 84 new members for 2008 year to date <br />3. There are currently 24 Business Sponsorships <br />4. Complimentary memberships may still be given by Commission members <br />E. Volunteers -Volunteer appreciation luncheon date to be determined for <br />early 2009 <br />F. Public Relations - no report <br />G. Mine Marker Project -The committee has met, with the next meeting to be <br />determined. The mines being considered for marking first are the Acme and <br />the Fireside Mines. <br />X. Chairperson's Report <br />A. Commission Members were reminded to update volunteer time sheets <br />B. The Study Session with City Council on September 9 went well <br />C. The Book Club will be discussed at a future date <br />D. Museum policies and bylaws will need to be reviewed <br />XI. Commission Comments -None <br />XII. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM. <br />
