Approval of 2008 Non-Profit Funding Applications <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA <br />Steve Anderson, 225 S. Boulder Road, Louisville, CO thanked Council for <br />recognizing the East Boulder County Meals on Wheels program. <br />Jean Morgan, 1131 Spruce Street, Louisville, CO honored Martin Luther King, <br />who was born on January 15tH. She informed Council the 72nd anniversary of the <br />January 20tH Monarch Mine clisaster will be recognized at the Louisville Museum <br />and thanked the City for expanding the museum's hours. She stated the Historic <br />Preservation Commission will meet on January 16tH to discuss important issues. <br />COUNCIL INFORMATION~4L COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON <br />THE AGENDA <br />Councilor Muckle stated the I-listoric Preservation Commission will discuss the <br />demolition of the historic facaide of the Louisville Middle School at their January <br />16tH meeting, which will be hE;ld in the Council Chambers at 7:00 p.m. <br />Mayor Sisk spoke with the Boulder Valley School District relative to preserving <br />the Louisville Middle School';> historic facade and stated there may be <br />opportunities for the City to assist the School District in preserving the facade. <br />CIl'Y MANAGER'S REPORT <br />City Manager Fleming reported on the following items: <br />• The Library reported 396,000 items were checked out in 2007. <br />• The Louisville Recreation & Senior Center reported 200,000 visits in 2007. <br />• He welcomed back Public Relations Manager Meredyth Muth. <br />• Public Relations Manager Muth and the City's IT Staff will update the <br />City's web site. <br />• Parks & Recreation Director Robson's last day is Friday, January 18tH <br />• He asked Council to RSVP on the Chamber of Commerce Banquet. <br />• Council received packets for January 22nd and 29tH Special Meetings. <br />Public Works Director Phare reported the City crews are using a de-icer for <br />melting snow on City streets. He noted it works better than the sand and salt <br />mixture as there is no need to sweep up the sand after the snow has melted. <br />Mayor Sisk inquired about thE: street snowplowing plan for neighborhood streets <br />and whether the Parks crews will be called on to assist.
