City Council Meeting Minutes January 15, 2008 Page 2 of 8 F. Approval of 2008 Non-Profit Funding Applications PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA Steve Anderson, 225 S. Boulder Road, Louisville, CO thanked Council for recognizing the East Boulder County Meals on Wheels program. Jean Morgan, 1131 Spruce Street, Louisville, CO honored Martin Luther King, who was born on January 15tH. She informed Council the 72nd anniversary of the January 20tH Monarch Mine clisaster will be recognized at the Louisville Museum and thanked the City for expanding the museum's hours. She stated the Historic Preservation Commission will meet on January 16tH to discuss important issues. COUNCIL INFORMATION~4L COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA Councilor Muckle stated the I-listoric Preservation Commission will discuss the demolition of the historic facaide of the Louisville Middle School at their January 16tH meeting, which will be hE;ld in the Council Chambers at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Sisk spoke with the Boulder Valley School District relative to preserving the Louisville Middle School';> historic facade and stated there may be opportunities for the City to assist the School District in preserving the facade. CIl'Y MANAGER'S REPORT City Manager Fleming reported on the following items: • The Library reported 396,000 items were checked out in 2007. • The Louisville Recreation & Senior Center reported 200,000 visits in 2007. • He welcomed back Public Relations Manager Meredyth Muth. • Public Relations Manager Muth and the City's IT Staff will update the City's web site. • Parks & Recreation Director Robson's last day is Friday, January 18tH • He asked Council to RSVP on the Chamber of Commerce Banquet. • Council received packets for January 22nd and 29tH Special Meetings. Public Works Director Phare reported the City crews are using a de-icer for melting snow on City streets. He noted it works better than the sand and salt mixture as there is no need to sweep up the sand after the snow has melted. Mayor Sisk inquired about thE: street snowplowing plan for neighborhood streets and whether the Parks crews will be called on to assist. Public Works Director
