City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />March 4, 2008 <br />Page8of9 <br />Cost estimates to purchase rind configure the laptops would be approximately <br />$9,500 for the Council and City Manager to review materials electronically during <br />the meetings. The volume of printed materials would be reduced by 80% and the <br />cost of materials by $400 per month. It would take 34 months for the savings in <br />materials to offset the cost of the laptops. Staff time would be freed up for other <br />activities and thus the City would break even in less than 14 months. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Michael Menaker, 1827 ChoN;e Cherry Street, Louisville, CO did not support the <br />electronic packet proposal and felt there were a lot of unintended consequences. <br />He stated it is not about the rnoney, it's about whether it helps the City. He felt it <br />is difficult to read documents on computer screens and was concerned there was <br />no discussion of a policy for the use of City owned laptop commuters. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Marsella asked about burning of CD's. Systems Manager <br />Browning stated burning CD';s for Council is one option, another would be to <br />download and print certain pages. <br />Councilor Yarnell voiced her excitement over the aspect of receiving a Council <br />packet on line. <br />Councilor Dalton asked if the laptops would come with a maintenance agreement <br />and warranty. System Manager Browning confirmed they would have a two year <br />warranty. <br />Councilor Dalton supported rules for the use of City property. City Manager <br />Fleming stated the City has a. computer policy in place. <br />Councilor Clabots supported the electronic packet proposal. <br />Mayor Sisk stressed the importance of saving Staff time and voiced his support <br />for laptops. <br />Councilor Muckle also supported saving Staff's time. <br />MOTION: Mayor Pro Tem Marsella moved Council follow Staff recommendation <br />to purchase 8 laptop computE~rs, seconded by Councilor Clabots. All in favor. <br />APPROVAL OF' RENEWAL OF LISTING AGREEMENT FOR <br />DAMYANOVICH HOME PROPERTY TO THE REMMERT REAL <br />ESTATE GROUP <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br />
