Proclamation - 2008 Arbor Day <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA <br />Randy Luallin, 301 East Street, Louisville, CO asked Council to honor Louisville <br />resident Glen Turner. Mr. Turner ran 2,630 miles across the country, from <br />Oceanside, California to Savannah, Georgia in just 36 days. Turner encouraged <br />students to sign up and log their miles and over 237 children participated. <br />Bonnie McCormick, 1301 Lincoln Avenue, Louisville, CO thanked Council for <br />their support on preserving the Louisville Middle School facade. <br />COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON <br />THE AGENDA <br />Councilor Muckle supported recognizing Mr. Turner for his achievement. He <br />attended a meeting with Boulder Valley School District representatives. <br />Mayor Sisk noted the preservation of the Louisville Middle School historic facade <br />will be a Boulder Valley School District decision. He reported Fortune Magazine <br />listed Louisville, Colorado as the 26th on their Best of the West listing. He <br />attended a US 36 EIS meeting and reported progress is being made on a <br />preferred alternative. The New York City Council voted to support a $350 million <br />dollar Traffic Congestion Relief Package, which will now go to the legislators for a <br />bill. If the bill passes, it will alffect federal transportation funding. He also <br />supported honoring Mr. Turnf:r for his accomplishment. <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br />City Manager Fleming was quoted in the newspaper as saying he is the "Luckiest <br />of City Managers" and explained he is the beneficiary of many successful <br />businesses, wonderful citizens and a tremendous staff. <br />Six finalists for the position of~ Parks and Recreation Director will be interviewed <br />on April 10th and 11th. There will be a reception to meet the candidates on <br />Thursday, April 10th, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Louisville Municipal Court. <br />City Manager Fleming, Mayor Pro Tem Marsella and Councilor Muckle met with <br />representatives of the school board to discuss the Louisville Middle School <br />renovations. All Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) representatives said they <br />had reviewed and were familiar with the resolution passed by the City Council <br />and with the "A Flawed Process..." report submitted by Louisville residents. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Marsella and Councilor Muckle shared their concerns that the <br />importance of historic preservation was never captured by the process and if it <br />
