He addressed the proposed plan, for the 8-acre site and noted
expansion to the west was prohibited. The extra square footage required
dictated an expansion to the ~sast. The seating in the auditorium will be expanded
to 350 seats. The expansion space is adaptable and can be changed to fit the
needs of the school. The focus of the school will be keeping the children off the
street. There will be an admiinistrative wing for counselors. The middle section
of the building will be dedicated for math, science and special education, with
handicapped accessibility. Auxiliary class rooms will be 1100 square feet in size.
This design wilt eliminate the need for portable units.
PRESENTATION OF PROPOSED DESIGN/PRESERVATION OF ARTIFACTS
MAY 16T" -LMS ALUMNI COMMUNITY EVENT -ADAM FELS
Principal Fels outlined the preservation of the artifacts: The enormous boiler
doors will be brought up from the basement and will be permanently displayed in
the entry way of the new building; artifacts and photos will be professionally
framed and prominently hung through out the new building. He noted the
students conducted fund raisers to pay for the framing.
Principal Fels thanked City Manager Fleming and Meredyth Muth for their
assistance in the LMS Alumni Reunion. The Pirate Reunion on May 16tH begins
at 6:00 p.m. Former students will gather and celebrate the history of the
Louisville Middle School. ThE; 1700 bricks of the Auditorium facade will be used
in the new auditorium and in i:he entry way. The bricks may be purchased for
$20.00 per brick and will be etched with the purchaser's name.
