Joint Meeting
Boulder Valley School District
Louisville City Council
Meeting Minutes
May 7, 2008
Board Member Lesley Smith supported the Design Advisory Team's
recommendation and the students of Louisville Middle School.
Board Member Roberge thanked everyone who attended the meeting. He stated
the Boulder Valley School District mission is the education of children. He noted
by the vote on the bond issue:, there was a strong indication for promoting
education. He stressed it is too late to change the design plans.
Board member Albright voiced her appreciation to the Louisville Historic
Preservation Community, however, the bond issue was for the educational
purposes and not for historical preservation.
President Jones stated this meeting was a great opportunity for the City Council
and the Board of Education to meet and discuss both sides of the issue. She
had no objections to the Louisville Museum Coordinator working to preserve the
Louisville Middle School artifacts. She stated the Design Advisory Team did
listen to the community but adhered to the guidelines set by the Board of
Education. She would not support any change to the design that would affect the
budget or the timeline. She ~;upported a monument to the old school. She
stressed her focus is the education of children.
Mayor Sisk expressed his desire to celebrate the reconstruction of the school.
He suggested erecting a monument to the Louisville Middle School to preserve
its history. He felt there must: be closure, and the community must put this
chapter behind them.
ADJOURN
The as adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
.l
=~,0.~ •~P
-~
...
W
4W,~ ~ ~ •
,ATT ST:
stir*rre~c•~
ancy Varr~, City Clerk
