City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 17, 2008 <br />Page 3 of 14 <br />• The success of the Saturday Farmer's Market, which is held from 9:00 <br />a.m. to 2:00 p.m. <br />• The Open House on the proposed Highway 42 Plan/South Boulder Road <br />Intersection. Fifteen members of the public attended, along with <br />representatives from CDOT and Carter Burgess. The public expressed <br />concern over right-of-way issues, the need of sidewalks and the impact to <br />existing businesses during the project process. <br />• City Manager Fleming will attend the CML Conference in Steamboat <br />Springs on June 18th and June 19th. He outlined the seminars he planned <br />to attend. Mayor Sisk suggested sending a few Councilors to the <br />Conference in future years. <br />Chief Goodman explained the City of Denver has asked all police agencies to <br />assist in providing security for the Democratic National Convention. The <br />Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) provides for reimbursement of the officer's <br />overtime. He noted it is a five-day assignment. Each officer will be trained prior <br />to their assignment. <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br />PRESENTATION -RECOGNITION OF CITY LOUISVILLE 2008 <br />SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT <br />Mayor Sisk explained the City of Louisville established an annual scholarship to <br />acknowledge and inspire community and civic involvement. The criteria for the <br />scholarship included the following: Louisville residency, attendance of Louisville <br />school for at least the last two years, a minimum GPA of 2.5, civic involvement <br />and/or employment with the City of Louisville. <br />Each candidate for the scholarship was required to write aone-page essay titled <br />"My Civic Involvement" or "My employment with the City of Louisville". Eleven <br />applications were received and reviE;wed by Councilors Yarnell and Dalton. The <br />City awarded the 2008 scholarship for $2,000 to Kelsy Rounds, who is a <br />graduating senior from Monarch High School. Ms. Rounds will be attending the <br />University of Northern Colorado. <br />Mayor Sisk presented the certificate of scholarship to Ms. Rounds. Ms. Rounds <br />thanked everyone for recognizing her and awarding her the scholarship. <br />RESOLUTION No. 26, SERIES 2008 - A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE US <br />36 PREFERRED ALTERNATIVE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION <br />
