City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 15, 2008 <br />Page 8 of 8 <br />Councilor Muckle favored taking no action on the property and seek matching <br />grant funds to rehabilitate the building. <br />Councilor Yarnell asked if there wa:> a reason for Council to make a decision at <br />this time. Public Works Director explained maintenance is required to repair the <br />roof and windows. He noted any future water plant maintenance building <br />construction would be prohibited by the 1930 Water Plant structure and another <br />site would have to be acquired. <br />Councilor Sackett stated water purification and providing that service to the <br />citizens is one of the most important things the City does. He noted the area is <br />not a museum. He supported Staff':> recommendation to deconstruct the 1930 <br />Water Plant. <br />Mayor Sisk concurred with Councilor Sackett and favored going forward with a <br />decision of the 1930 Water Plant. He felt the City's water resources must be <br />protected. <br />MOTION: Councilor Sackett movecl that Council award the 1930 Water Plant <br />Deconstruction Project to Big R Construction Company Inc., in the amount of <br />$38,252.00, with authorization to the Mayor to execute the contract. Councilor <br />Dalton seconded the motion. Roll call vote was taken. The motion carried by a <br />vote of 5-2.
