4/1'7/84 Page -3-
Department of Highways and would be leased
by :R.T.D. for a period of 30 years for a
nominal sum.- $1.00 per year type of lease.
ICo~uncil had been provided a map, conceptual
design, and other information relating to
the park and ride facility).
Approximately 150 parking spaces would initi-
ally be developed with the capability to
expand to 240 spaces at ultimate buildout of
the site. In the eastbound direction the
bus would leave the highway, would enter
on to the ramp, then would stop on the shoulder
of the ramp and there would be a passenger
waiting area for the people to board the bus
and continue through the interchange and be
on its way. This type of operation would
minimize conversion and lost time to a lot
of passengers who would be on the bus coming
from Boulder. In the afternoon there is
a similiar operation where the bus would
stop on the ramp in the westbound direction,
passengers would deboard then walk across
the bridge back into the parking lot. As
the parking demand increases they would en-
vision that these buses would have the
opportunity to loop into the site and drop
the passengers at the parking lot. This
would happen in the future phase of this
development. They have now included
in their parking lots different amenities
including a waiting area with a shelter,
benches, and usually a telephone. There
would be handicapped ramps and parking spaces.
When water becomes available to the site,
a landscaping plan will be developed. Auto-
mobile access to the lot would be off 170.
Because of the medians placed on McCaslin
and Dillon as well as the significantly
higher traffic volumes that were projected
thE~ north side of the interchange provided
limited access.
Maintenance R.'I'.D. would be responsible for all mainten-
ance on the site and would handle all improve-
ments.
Councilman Cussen Conunented - buses that are going northbound,
thE, passengers that are deboarding would have
to cross over the interchange to get to the
park and ride facility. Mr. Grote stated
in the future with expansion the buses would
loop through the facility, inquired if R.T.D.
