The City has
more than provided for the offspring of
the people of Louisville. That used to
be quite the theme - we have to have homes
for our children. Mr. McKee didn't think
we had 600 kids a year needing homes anymore,
consequently the City doesn't need those
homes out there. We not only don't need
1,333 or 133 - we don't need any of them - 0.
It was his suggestion that that is the level
at which we should deal with this application.
If Homart wants to come to Louisville and
offer us something that can help the City -
fine in terms of commercial. Now Homart
is going to come back and say we will just
build under the old zoning. He was more
convinced than ever after the presentation
Homart Old Zoning Plan this evening the old zoning looks pretty
good. It is all R-E zoning as far as resi-
dential which. assures us of low density,
upper level homes, better than the town-
houses and condominiums talked about in
th.e new plan. There was just as much open
space in the old plan.. In their new plan
there is not as much commercial where they
make their money, so it was his feeling that
they would not build under this plan either.
Another point was if Homart thinks they
ar•e going to come in and build - they have
to have building permits. They can't just
build under the zoning. They have to go
through a P.U.D. process. Mr. McKee stated
that their group had gotten pretty good
with referring things - had referred annexations
zc>nings, and could refer a P.U.D. if need be.
A~~ a little further warning to Homart, stated
they were good at referendums but have not
even begun to probe the limits of the
initiative process. Mr. McKee advised that
hE~ was speaking in terms of housing permit
moritoriums, initiative zoning, etc.
HE: asked how would Homart like that zoned
for cows out there?
Jane Bostwick, 1045 Main St. M:>. Bostwick stated she would like to make
2 points this evening. It was her feeling
tYiat the financial facts were fairly ob-
v~Lous as they are coming from city staff;
they are coming from concerned citizens
who don't want to pay for growth that we
