1/1T/84 Page -14-
the reception at his home was very poor.
The last thing - the package discounts, he
wou7_d like to see that in writing. He
wished verification of this from Councilwoman
Morris.
She advised when the person came door to door
she specifically asked him about the packages
and he said that that was something that they
had added. He stated they felt this would
be in the best interest of everyone; but
wou7_d be just on the basic package. This
couT_d not be done with the Rainbow Gold or
Rainbow Plus packages.
Rate Increases Councilman Cussen reiterated that he was
sti7Ll not pleased and would like to hear
othE~r council comments regarding this. But
the bottom line for him was that he still
fell= there were still some areas where his
interpretation is that maybe the agreement
has been violated and therefore would want
the City Attorney pursue this or have them
givE, us additional response in writing.
Stared that we are just assuming that they
had rate increases passed on to them. We
askf~d, at the public hearing, that they
show evidence - open the books - that the
increases have been passed on to them. Yet
we ;sit back and absorb these. Felt that the
agreement stated we have that right therefore
we ;should insist upon verification that they
have had rate increases passed on to them and
as a result they are passing them on to their
subscribers.
Councilman Luce Cor~unented - he was not certain what we would
gain by continuing to pursue our sense of
being disgruntled. Shared Councilman Cussen's
sense of frustration however in anyeffort to
sort of resolve those, was not sure that that
engergy would gain us a whole lot. It seemed
to him that this council might better spend
some of its time pursuing some policy questions
related to Cable TV that haven't been addressed,
such as how the public access channel is
going to be used, etc. While none of us may
be happy with the fact that rates have gone
up, he at least was not able to determine
that council can really effect that. Perhaps
council might place their energies into an
area that they maybe able to effect.
