1/17/84'
Page -13-
LOUISVILLE COMMUNICATIONS Couricilmembers had a copy of the letter from
CORP. WRITTEN RESPONSE Charles T. Romano of the Louisville Communi-
cations Cable TV Corp.
Mayor Meier commented that it was feeling
that: the letter did answer some of the
que:~tions asked at the public hearing but
answered them basically the same as their
previous response and some of the concerns
were still not addressed. Wished to have
disc:ussion with council as to their reaction
to t:he response letter.
Councilwoman Morris Commented that there was one issue that had
beers addressed that did not appear in the
letter. The question had come up regarding
differing packages, the possibility of making
up your own package rather than those previously
offE.red by the company. On the basic Rainbow,
you can now pick basic and any three premiums
and still get it at the $8.00 rate, aside from
Disney, which would be the $9.00 rate.
Councilman Cussen Stal=ed he would like something in writing
reg<~rding make your own package which seems
to be a great concern and too often we hear
there things, but felt it should be in writing.
His overall response was that he still was
not pleased with the response of this letter.
Felt it was the same rhetoric over again.
The agreement concerning the rates - the con-
tract does say the basic rates; but there
certainly was indication at the time that
we ;negotiated this contract that there would
not be a raising of the rates and the comment
was•-certainly we wouldn't do that as soon as
we take over. That has already happened.
Advance notification - we didn't address that
in the agreement and probably should have.
The response to advance notification certainly
didn't satisfy him. The Lafayette rate
differential - he surmised they had the right
to have a considerable difference, at least
20% difference, in the rates that they charge
Louisville and Lafayette residents $49.00
versus $63.00 for the Rainbow Gold package,
to him was an exhorbitant amount. On the
quality of reception, he did not want to be
the one that people call - would rather they
call Scripps/Howard. In the past few days
