12/4,/84 Page -3- <br />C~ zcilwoman Morris Commented that she did not wish to close <br />the door on this issue. After the survey <br />is completed, Council will reclassify this; <br />and also review the financial status of the <br />City after the first quarter. Mrs. Morris <br />stated she would be happy to have any suggP~•- <br />tions that Mr. Thompson might have regardi~ag <br />the salary increase issue. <br />Shirley Markel - Main St. Mayor Meier introduced Shirley Markel, as <br />South Restaurant the new owner of the business - Main St. <br />South Restaurant, which appeared on the con- <br />sent, agenda as a liquor license transfer. <br />Maj-Lis Kemper, 439 W. Laurel Ms. Kemper brought her small daughter with <br />Court, Louisville her and the child had a sign around her <br />Need for a larger Library neck. "We need a bigger library." She <br />sat the child on the podium and stated <br />that she wished to speak to Council about <br />the sales tax issue and suggested that Counc~7.1 <br />look, as a first priority to increasing the <br />size of our current library, Her daily <br />quote calendar read "A good mind is richer <br />than a crown". She had come to Council <br />to state that minds like crowns have to be <br />formed. One of the tools for forming those <br />good, minds is our library. This applied <br />to all age groups but particularly she was <br />concerned with our children. But our tool <br />has shrunk; it is so small. At one of the <br />story hours, the floor space was so filled <br />that some of the mothers left. Mothers <br />are taking their children to Boulder to get <br />more books or not getting books at all. <br />Adults that need to study cannot co-exist <br />with the children who need to play to learn. <br />Our children really do not have a library. <br />They have no space. We all need a bigger <br />library. Ms. Kemper stated that she had <br />come before council to praise the increase <br />in sales tax proposal and to build into <br />that, proposal that much of the funding be <br />spent to enlarge our existing library. <br />She dreamed of ~~s a new building; but <br />what. she will settle for, due to current <br />financial crunches is this manger of a <br />building expanded to its limits. One of <br />the top priorities must be the forming of <br />our children's minds. Let the education of <br />
