After seeing the proposal restrictions, timing and such-made on Saturday, by the Building and Planning Department, I don't feel it • was made with the knowledge of some professional peoplE in the area such as botony that know exactly what is requd•red to sustain a lawn and vegatation in the soil type we have here. I consulted with a degreed botonist from the Colorado University. If established lawns are areated they can sustain a 7 day period if they have 1" of water at that time, based on the water drop size. I would like to request that we might be able to do some investigative work on our own and come back and make some recommendations to the Council also offer some professional people to come here and see if we can put something together more than an educational guess. I would like to request from the Council their authorization to go ahead and contact some people in the various Wards and come back to the Council on the 17th or a little bit later and make some recommendations from the citizens of Louisville. Councilman Cussen I think that the more input we can have is certainly a good idea and maybe by the next meeting would be very timely. It is a short amount of time to gather the sort of information and we found ourself in the position of making recommendations and maybe not always based on the best information but I would welcome a committee to make recommendations. Mayor Meier I would be willing to do that. I think just so that the group would also have the understanding that at any given point in time we have to work with what the City can serve and not just what's necessary for the lawns. We have a two-fold problem. here. Depending on how we come out on the 3-2-1- Off system, we may be able to increase the hours and the time limit. As long as that group will work within that area and take into consideration trying to look at some different vax><- ables as to what the lawn needs and how you can treat it cm actually what the City can serve. Karl Kasch I think it's a good idea.. The 3-2-1- Off is experimental in that we're trying to target for a given days consumption. No amount of sophisticated computerized water distribution system are going to tell you the kind of answers we want because there are too many variables. As a result we need to watch it work and have everybody work with it for a little bit to see what kind of relaxation we can do. Council Comments Susan Morris How would we get this task force organized? Mayor Meier Perhaps they should just contact City Hall with something then we could have Mr. Allen call City Hall. I think we'll set it up to just have them call the same Hot-Line number and then Kylee can ~tve the names to Mr. Allen.
